The project involved the construction of a new Senior School Hub for St Martins Lutheran College, incorporating modern learning spaces, staff facilities and a dedicated wellbeing centre. Works included a new two-storey extension, the refurbishment of an existing two-storey wing, and a first-floor addition built over the sloping site.
The new facility incorporates open-plan performance areas, innovative study nooks, general learning areas and senior staff and wellbeing offices. Works were staged to ensure continuity for multiple trades, with construction comprising structural steel, bondek slabs and substantial pad footings. Externally, the building features a combination of brickwork, aluminium cladding and timber soffits, with the upper level extending out toward the school oval.
Given the combination of refurbishment and new construction, careful planning was required to manage simultaneous work zones. Value-managed solutions for joinery and lighting were developed in collaboration with the College to deliver cost-effective outcomes. All construction activities were coordinated around the operations of the active P–12 campus, including managing vehicle movements, scheduling power and communications shutdowns outside school hours, and maintaining regular communication with school representatives to minimise disruption.
