Redevelopment

Client: University of South Australia
Duration: 6 Months
Value: $4.9m

The University of South Australia, as part of their “Crossing the Horizon Strategic Action Plan 2013 to 2018”, undertook the redevelopment of a site that they currently own on the corner of Gray Street and North Terrace which included the conversion of 3 existing single storey buildings, into a cohesive medical treatment/rehab and teaching space.

The Integrated Health Clinic and Practice Education Centre provides a unique opportunity to transform current health programs by providing innovative facilities that support new models of inter-professional and patient centred education. This Project houses innovative, multidisciplinary clinics, and practice based teaching spaces. These facilities enable the University to foster a new generation of allied health graduates that are more effectively skilled to provide team focused collaboration to achieve a holistic approach to patient centred care. The facilities incorporate expanded simulated learning environments, integrated clinical training facilities and sophisticated performance assessment.

The development is sited opposite the new Royal Adelaide Hospital and SHAMRI site and plays a significant role in anchoring one end of the emerging South Australian Health and Biomedical Precinct. The new facility includes 8 consulting rooms, 2 Procedure/Treatment rooms, shared group treatment spaces, Rehabilitation Gym, Paediatric Gym, Admin and staff offices, Splinting Room, Sterilization Suite, Staff Amenities, Student write up/case notes area, Case Conference room etc.
