University of South Australia Forestry Centre of Excellence

The Forestry Centre of Excellence (FCoE) is a state‑funded facility supporting forestry research, industry development, and training for the University of South Australia, PIRSA, and a range of industry partners and
researchers.

The new purpose‑built facility provides flexible workspaces, meeting rooms, and specialist laboratory areas, including a PC2‑rated laboratory, designed to support collaboration and innovation in forestry research.

The facility promotes the use of timber construction and sustainable materials, featuring CLT timber columns and beams, a floating concrete slab and Mini Orb and standard corrugated steel cladding. Internally, exposed structural ply, acoustic panelling, feature blue gum beams, and custom timber joinery are used throughout.

Engaged early under an early contractor involvement (ECI) contract, Mossop led value management activities to align the project with Adelaide University’s budget constraints. The project achieved zero LTIs or MTIs and was delivered with positive subcontractor collaboration.
