This project included major internal structural modifications, with the removal of structural walls and existing concrete slabs, followed by installation of new structural steel and set-down concrete floors.
The Moore Court was fully redeveloped to deliver 11 ensuited rooms, a lounge, nurse’s station, medication room, study, dining area, resident kitchen, a stainless steel kitchen and servery.
The roof was replaced with Colorbond sheeting, with new gutters, safety systems, and solar panels installed. Services were upgraded throughout to support future needs.
Externally, the courtyard was renewed with paving, screening, and landscaping, along with new egress stairs, doors, and pathways to improve access and functionality.
As works were undertaken within an active aged care facility, minimising disruption to residents, staff and visitors was a priority. Mossop secured the construction zone with full enclosure and maintained strict access control at all times.
Given the building’s history of multiple minor upgrades that did not meet current Australian Standards, Mossop collaborated closely with the engineers, architect and client to deliver a high-quality, compliant refurbishment. Practical and cost-effective solutions were implemented to upgrade the existing facility, ensuring long-term performance and value for the new dementia ward.
