2025 Master Builders Association (SA) Building Excellence Awards Winner
15/08/25
We’re honoured to have been recognised at this year’s Master Builders (SA) Building Excellence Awards in the Commercial / Industrial Building $5m to $10m category for our work in delivering the New Norwood Ambulance Station for SA Ambulance Service—a project that reflects thoughtful design, collaboration, and meaningful community impact.
Located at the corner of Portrush and Magill Roads, the new $8.7 million facility is part of SA Ambulance Service’s recent expansion to meet growing population demands and increased staffing levels. Purpose-built to enhance the delivery of critical emergency services, it now serves as the home station for a dedicated team of paramedics and Emergency Support Services ambulance officers.
The Norwood Ambulance Station includes facilities to garage five ambulances and two light fleet vehicles, with a carport accommodating an additional eight fleet vehicles. Designed with future growth in mind, the station also features training spaces and leadership offices, serving as a hub for ongoing skills development for paramedics.
This recognition highlights the collective efforts of our team, dedicated subcontractors and suppliers, and valued project partners—Greenway Architects SA, BCA Engineers, WGA (Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec), Resonate Acoustics, and Oxigen Landscape Architects—whose expertise brought this vision to life.
Judges Comments:
“This Station was delivered on time and constructed without fault in the high quality, complex finishes. Mossop Construction built the Station on a site bordered by two busy roads and with neighbours on either side. This building was the flagship in the South Australian rollout of new ambulance stations and drew significant attention and accolades. The builder managed a number of issues well - including significantly contaminated soils and abandoned fuel tanks which were discovered after construction began. Quality assurance and safety issues were also managed in an exemplary manner.”
