The Mossop name has been continuously associated with the South Australian building industry since 1946, when Bert Mossop returned from World War II and began undertaking general building work.

In the 1950s, Bert identified a growing demand among South Australian families for affordable holidays and established a niche business building caravans. The Broadway Caravan business became a successful part of the Mossop story until the credit squeeze of the 1960s placed significant pressure on the industry. Once again, Bert recognised an opportunity and established a successful ceilings operation.

By the late 1970s, Bert’s three sons, Ray, John and Neil, had completed their apprenticeships as carpenters and joiners and established careers with one of Adelaide’s largest building companies. In 1979, the brothers established Mossop Group Pty Ltd, specialising in building and interiors.

Over the following decades, the family business continued to grow, establishing a strong reputation for delivering quality commercial construction and interior projects across South Australia. Today, Mossop is a significant South Australian-based commercial construction and interiors company, built on generations of experience, strong relationships and a commitment to quality.

In 2024, the Mossop family entered an exciting new chapter. As Neil prepared to step down from the day-to-day leadership of the business and join brothers Ray and John in retirement, the next generation stepped forward to continue the family legacy.

In October 2024, Grant Mossop, Aaron Mossop and Lynda Simon took on the roles of Joint Managing Directors alongside long-time General Manager Stephen Prosser. Together, they lead the company’s future vision and objectives, bringing extensive industry experience and fresh ideas to the business. Grant, Aaron and Lynda each bring nearly 25 years of industry experience, while Stephen has been part of the Mossop team for more than 40 years.

While Neil, Ray and John have stepped back from the day-to-day running of the business, they continue to contribute their knowledge and experience as members of the Mossop board.

This transition marks the next chapter in a family business that has been built over almost 80 years, from Bert Mossop’s beginnings in 1946, through three generations of family leadership, and into an exciting future for Mossop Construction + Interiors.
