The scope of works for this project included the interior redevelopment of the Portland Library including all fitout, fixtures and furniture. Additionally, the Portland Library roof was replaced.

The redevelopment aimed to better accommodate Library users and the way people interact with Library through a range of features including:

  • A dedicated children’s area
  • Youth chill-out space
  • History room and research space
  • Small group meetings spaces
  • Silent study area
  • Integrated public computing facilities.

A major challenge of this project was that the designs were not finalised at the time of contract award.  This was overcome by working closely with the Client, together with a clear budget and schedule. The end result; the Client received their expected outcomes within budget and on time.
