Completed in just under 12 months, this project involved the expansion of the existing Kangaroo Island Airport. The scope of works comprised of:

  • An arrivals hall
  • Departure gates and lounges
  • Qantas and Rex Airlines check-in areas
  • WC amenities
  • Land and air side
  • Car rental booths
  • Baggage check-in and departure gate security screening
  • Café zone
  • Back of house offices and baggage areas (including the baggage
  • Conveyor system as supplied by the client
  • Entry and internet kiosk points
  • VIP Lounge for Southern Ocean Lodge.

High-level construction detailing and materials such as the following were including: feature timber cladding, metal cladding and performance glazing to overcome both acoustic issues and thermal issues. Air side structural steel canopy for baggage handling.

Perforated plasterboard ceilings and timber feature wall cladding were used to enhance the acoustics of the building and internal spaces.

The project also included a major infrastructure upgrade with the installation of new power supplies, switchboards, the supply and installation of a new generator genset.
