We are thrilled and proud to announce that we have been recognised by the Master Builder’s (SA) at the Building Excellence Awards on Friday for one of the prestigious awards for Excellence in Work Health & Safety for the Yatala Labour Prison Redvelopment Project.

Mossop were appointed as the Managing Contractor to deliver this significant redevelopment project for the Department of Correctional Services which has created hundreds of jobs for South Australian’s.

The redevelopment to the Yatala Labour Prison correctional facility comprises of numerous 2-storey precast structures which house an additional 274 beds, a family visitor centre, entry waiting area, admissions, recreation and gym facilities, along with back of house and utility spaces such as; a full commercial grade kitchen and laundry. The complex also includes training spaces, staff meeting rooms, video conferencing facilities and administrative office spaces.

Working within a high security prison on such a complex project, with over 400,000+ work hours on site, safety and security is always our team’s number one priority. To to win this award is a true testament to the way in which we pride ourselves on providing best practice WHS and a positive safety culture across all of our projects.
