    This project involved the demolition of existing buildings, including the community services village shop and part of the Fred Martin building to enable construction of a 38 sole occupancy unit development. The new development comprises a community centre; carparking; landscaping; two x 4 storey wings and one x 3 storey wing - all containing 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units. We worked extensively with the client, architect and other consultants to undertake a thorough value engineering process, achieving a 10% cost saving on

There was no storage space on site and there were several unknown elements to overcome in relation to the existing structure. The judges were particularly impressed with the oak veneer ply ceiling resembling the underside of a boat hull. The motto to ‘do it right the first time’ paid dividends on this project with great results”

    Judges’ Comments: “The Construction of this multi-purpose hall at Norwood provided a number of challenges to Mossop Construction + Interiors, ranging from restricted access, to flooding from a neighbouring property as well as several changes of key client personnel. This required concrete panels to be cast on site, steel work to be craned over other buildings and working through the possibility of a changed design approach partway through the project. Despite these challenges the final building is an impressive structure with sophisticated finishes and highly skilled detailing".
