The Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) Works program provided $250 million funding over a three year period to refurbish and redevelop 139 primary and secondary school facilities for the provision of contemporary STEM programs. The new learning facilities support and enhance student engagement in STEM related areas to encourage future innovation and productivity.

These contemporary facilities support cutting-edge teaching and learning approaches to help prepare students for future jobs in a range of industries.The works at Blackwood High School involved the $2.5M renovation and refurbishment of two levels of an existing two storey classroom building including an outdoor learning space, Science Laboratories, open plan flexible learning spaces, balcony, veranda and external stair. The revived learning spaces at Blackwood High School have create a vibrant, innovative environment to stimulate students learning potential.
